Last night there were 7 by elections held around the county. We had one Labour defence, 5 Tory defences, and one Independent.

- Codsall (Staffordshire) – Con HOLD
- East Brighton (Brighton & Hove) – Lab HOLD
- Hartside (Eden) – Con HOLD
- Stretton (East Staffs) – Con HOLD
- Tophill East (Weymouth & Portland) – Con GAIN from Independent
- Tophill West (Weymouth & Portland) – Con HOLD
Pretty much ‘as you were’ following these elections but it is worth noting that Labour’s vote share increased in every ward contested except for Stretton (down 2 points).
